From Jenifer: Updates on Fulbright, Graduate School, and life in general

Hi everyone!

Well, it's been a few months since Christmas! How has everyone been? I have been busy working a lot (6-7 days/week!), but now that spring is here, I'm starting to hear back from Fulbright, grad schools, etc, and I figured it would be a good time to send out an update!

So, after being recommended for in-country consideration for Fulbright, I have been notified that I have been accepted as an alternate...which means that the waiting game continues. In the meantime, I have also been accepted to American University's Global Environmental Studies program and Monterey Institute for International Studies' International Environmental Policy program. Monterey has offered me a generous scholarship, and I would have the opportunity to get a dual degree, (a Master's and an MBA) for only 1 additional semester. This opportunity, combined with a fellowship they have which would enable me to to water-related research abroad for a summer is very appealing at the moment. I have not yet made a decision, since I haven't visited American's campus yet (I'll be doing that next Monday). However, I only have until April 12 to make a decision, so I've been doing a lot of thinking!

In my spare time, I've started volunteering at Common Good City Farm, an urban farm a few blocks from my house. They are a fantastic organization, giving over 85% of all their crops to low-income families who volunteer on the farm. They also have a youth education program, teaching youth in underprivileged about nutrition, where food comes from, etc. It's been really great volunteering there, and I've been learning a lot about gardening as a bonus!

I also bought a ticket to go see Sarah in France this summer, so I will be leaving DC (permanently, maybe?) on July 10. I'm super excited to see her, and I'm sure we'll have plenty of fun adventures!

Anyway, that's all the news with me! How about you all? How's everyone been? What's new?

Getting ready for spring!
